A twitter follower, Keith Daw (@KeithDaw; but more about him later), asked me a recent question that froze me on how to respond enough that I missed my self-imposed Friday publishing deadline. Fortunately, Tiger Woods is far enough back in the PGA Championship in Kiowah Island, South Carolina, that I am able to avoid watching that to get this out. (You knew there had to be some reason for the golf reference in the title. Ian Poulter, while a great dresser, battling it out with Rory McIlroy is just not the sort of thing to keep me glued to the television.)

Keith?s query was this:

?I would like to learn more about the creative help you offer with?#NewBusiness.?#attorney?#lawyer.?

At first, I thought there was no way I could put that into 140 characters. Then I thought I could write to him in a series of repeat tweets. But I got rid of that idea because I though by the time he read the third one, he?d unfollow me as a spammer.

But the more I thought about it, the more I thought is was a great question. The Fisher Law Office advises people about their businesses and their individual wealth. In giving them that advice, we talk about startups, expansions, relocations and transitions. We talk about goals, objectives, strategies, marketing and protections of creative product for the company. We also help with financial considerations and protections for the individual and the family. For businesses, the usual first thing we talk about is message.

A friend from the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, John Nicodemus (@CalltheMan; an extraordinarily gifted business coach) describes it this way:

?If you can?t describe to me in 30 seconds why I should do business with you, you should be doing something else.?

With Keith?s question and John?s coaching both ringing in my ear, I then went back to rethink the question of what it is that I do in the context of a twitter answer. The beauty of twitter is that it forces you to boil answers down to the essence. And the reality is that in this economy, whether it is a lawyer practicing business and estate planning, an author and trainer that specializes in public relations and marketing of serious professionals (Keith), someone owning retail, restaurant or .other commercial enterprise, or just an individual playing on the internet that wants others to follow their thoughts (my daughter and her friends at the Arts and Cats Movement), you have to have a honed message to break through the noise.

Full color images at 100,000 dots-per-inch resolution, using metal-laced nano-structures

ScienceDaily (Aug. 12, 2012) ? Researchers from A*STAR's Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE) have developed an innovative method for creating sharp, full-spectrum colour images at 100,000 dots per inch (dpi), using metal-laced nanometer-sized structures, without the need for inks or dyes. In comparison, current industrial printers such as inkjet and laserjet printers can only achieve up to 10,000 dpi while research grade methods are able to dispense dyes for only single colour images.

This novel breakthrough allows colouring to be treated not as an inking matter but as a lithographic matter, which can potentially revolutionise the way images are printed and be further developed for use in high-resolution reflective colour displays as well as high density optical data storage.

The inspiration for the research was derived from stained glass, which is traditionally made by mixing tiny fragments of metal into the glass. It was found that nanoparticles from these metal fragments scattered light passing through the glass to give stained glass its colours. Using a similar concept with the help of modern nanotechnology tools, the researchers precisely patterned metal nanostructures, and designed the surface to reflect the light to achieve the colour images.

"The resolution of printed colour images very much depends on the size and spacing between individual 'nanodots' of colour," explained Dr Karthik Kumar, one of the key researchers involved. "The closer the dots are together and because of their small size, the higher the resolution of the image. With the ability to accurately position these extremely small colour dots, we were able to demonstrate the highest theoretical print colour resolution of 100,000 dpi."

"Instead of using different dyes for different colours, we encoded colour information into the size and position of tiny metal disks. These disks then interacted with light through the phenomenon of plasmon resonances," said Dr Joel Yang, the project leader of the research. "The team built a database of colour that corresponded to a specific nanostructure pattern, size and spacing. These nanostructures were then positioned accordingly. Similar to a child's 'colouring-by-numbers' image, the sizes and positions of these nanostructures defined the 'numbers'. But instead of sequentially colouring each area with a different ink, an ultrathin and uniform metal film was deposited across the entire image causing the 'encoded' colours to appear all at once, almost like magic!" added Dr Joel Yang.

The researchers from IMRE had also collaborated with A*STAR's Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) to design the pattern using computer simulation and modelling. Dr Ravi Hegde of IHPC said, "The computer simulations were vital in understanding how the structures gave rise to such rich colours. This knowledge is currently being used to predict the behaviour of more complicated nanostructure arrays."

The researchers are currently working with Exploit Technologies Pte Ltd (ETPL), A*STAR's technology transfer arm, to engage potential collaborators and to explore licensing the technology. The research was published online on August 12, 2012 in Nature Nanotechnology.

CHICAGO (AP) - Rookie Todd Frazier doubled twice and drove in four runs, Aroldis Chapman came out of the bullpen to stop an eighth-inning rally attempt and the Cincinnati Reds beat the sloppy Chicago Cubs 10-8 Friday to end their season-high losing streak at five games.

Ryan Ludwick hit a two-run homer into a 24 mph wind in the third against Justin Germano (1-2) as the NL Central leaders built a 5-1 lead. Ludwick also doubled, walked and matched his career best with four runs.

Chicago lost for the ninth time in 10 games and made five errors - by five players - that led to two unearned runs. It was the Cubs' sloppiest game in the field since they made six errors in a 9-8 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sept. 12, 2006, according to STATS LLC.

Homer Bailey (10-7) won for the first time in four starts since July 20, allowing four runs and nine hits in 5 2-3 innings. He set his career high for wins, topping last year's nine.

After Chicago closed to 9-8 with a pair of runs in the eighth, Chapman struck out Anthony Rizzo with a runner on third. Chapman retired the side in order in the ninth for his 26th save in 30 chances and 18th in a row. He has a 0.18 ERA against NL clubs this season.

Germano gave up six runs - four earned - and seven hits in 5 2-3 innings. Catcher Welington Castillo, shortstop Starlin Castro, center fielder Brett Jackson, first baseman Rizzo and third baseman Josh Vitters made errors. All three Cubs rookies in the starting lineup had errors.

Alfonso Soriano, who drove in three runs, put the Cubs ahead with an RBI grounder in the first. Frazier, second among big league rookies with 15 homers and 47 RBIs, tied it with an RBI double in the second and scored on Bailey's single to put the Reds ahead for good.

Ludwick's homer made it 4-1 in the third and gave him 24 RBIs since 2010 NL MVP Joey Votto got hurt his left knee on July 15. The Reds, who stopped a four-game road skid, tacked on another run on three errors, the last a routine roller that went under the glove of shortstop Starlin Castro.

Drew Stubbs reached on an infield single with two outs in the sixth and stole second, with Castillo's throw skipping into center field. The ball also eluded Jackson as Stubbs came around to score.

Castro was thrown out at third base in the sixth after losing track of Vitters' single to right. Castro was booed when he batted in the seventh, then hit a two-run double.

Castillo had a pair of RBI hits - the latter a double in the seventh that came two pitches after his popup into the middle of the infield was blown into the first-base stands.

NOTES: Cincinnati manager Dusty Baker sat slumping outfielder Jay Bruce, who is hitless in his last 12 at-bats with seven strikeouts. Baker said Bruce's slump is "like being in quicksand." Xavier Paul started for Bruce. ... Reds 3B Scott Rolen was held out of the lineup for a third straight game due to a sore back. ... Soriano has driven in 15 runs in his last 16 games at Wrigley Field.
